Les Amis de la Commune de Paris
About us
The Association of Friends of the Paris Commune 1871
an ideal of burning relevance in a world that is more unequal, inhuman and dominated by money than ever before
Founded in 1882 by Communards returning from exile, the Friends of the Paris Commune-1871 is the oldest organisation in the French workers' movement.
It perpetuates the ideals of the Commune and promotes its premonitory work:
- secularism
- the right of work and the right to work,
- the emancipation of women,
- the beginnings of workers' self-management...
To raise awareness of this fascinating experiment in democracy.
To find out what the Communards were up to.
To find out more about this important moment in our history, which has always been obscured, falsified and denigrated because it frightened the privileged.
" The corpse is on the ground and the idea is still standing! " Victor Hugo
