Adrien Lejeune, born on June 3, 1847, in Bagnolet and died on January 9, 1942, in Novosibirsk (USSR), was a Communard regarded as the last surviving participant of the Paris Commune. Upon his death, he was buried in the USSR, but his ashes were later repatriated to France for the centenary of the Paris Commune, organized by the French Communist Party in 1971, and interred near the Mur des Fédérés. However, some believe that other anonymous survivors outlived him by several years. Perhaps? Will we ever know?
