Pharmacy student, Blanquist. Sentenced to death for the attack on the Villette barracks on 14 August 1870, he was saved by the proclamation of the Republic. Member of the central committee of the twenty arrondissements during the siege. At the time of the Commune, he was elected for the XIth arrondissement and appointed to the executive and military commissions, then inspector of forts. Member of the public safety committee. During the bloody week, he fought on the barricades. Sentenced to death, he went into exile in England until the amnesty. After returning to France, he founded "Ni dieu ni maître", a Blanquist newspaper.
